“Why did you think I was mad about that?” Ilia said incredulously.

Link gave a small shrug. “Because... I kept this a secret. I didn’t tell anyone I could turn into a monster, and I scared you, I know I did, and—“

“Wolves aren’t monsters.”

Link closed his mouth with a small click.

Ilia sighed, tying off the bandages on his arm. “Link you’re not a monster. Yeah this is unusual, or rather, weird, and I’m never letting you be the one who has to chase off any wolves that go after the goats again, but you’re not a monster.”

Her voice went quiet.

“Who told you that you are?”

“I thought I’d find you here.”

Link’s ear twitched as Ilia walked up, but he didn’t verbally reply to her, merely continued to look up at the stars in the navy colored sky.

He’d been laying here up in the pasture since twilight, watching the orange fade to purple, then to a darker shade as the stars began to show themselves.

“Evening,” he said quietly.

Ilia took it as the invitation it was and settled herself down into the grass next to him, looking up at the stars.

“You’ve been out here a while you know,” she said after a minute, glancing over at him. “Uli said she missed you at dinner.”

“Wasn’t hungry.”

Ilia snorted. “Somehow I doubt that. You’ve got an appetite like a wolf.”

Link flinched.

Ilia seemed to pick up that her words had somehow been taken the wrong way, and she went silent, turning her gaze back up at the sky.

A couple crickets chirped loudly nearby.

“You’ve been spending an awful lot of time up here lately,” she said after a minute, voice quiet. “You used to only come here when you were upset.”

Link closed his eyes and sighed. “I’m sorry.”

“I wasn’t fishing for an apology.”

Link didn’t reply.

Thinking about the sense of urgency I'm skyward sword that many other games just don't have... Like with a regular day/night cycle the world keeps spinning, the kingdom is in danger yeah but time moves on. Zelda gets kidnapped and time basically stops. Link only needs a night-day cycle to complete the side quests and he's pushed on and on and on with little natural break in between quests. It can be done in a matter of like 48 in game hours at most. Impa's "you were late" scene just doesn't come up in any other game..how many times are you told you still failed after you defeat the boss? Fi keeps pushing him, telling him where he needs to go, that he needs to move on. In BOTW, Link is already 100 years late, what's one day more? The people telling him to hurry up begins to become nagging. In Skyward Sword, the doubt that he's the hero, the pressure of the Imprisoned breaking free (and unlike Calamity Ganon the Imprisoned does—no other game has the final boss as a character entity released so early, where losing is directly destroying the world. For a game so focused on trying to get you to save the world and get back to Zelda, BOTW just doesn't have the same urgency). And maybe it's partly how the majority of the side quests are in the sky, where days can pass without really feeling like they're part of the game. Maybe it's Link's close relationship to Zelda, how he gets so close and yet never quite reaches her, how everyone is chasing and running from each other and slipping through their fingers. Idk. I'm procrastinating a paper

i love that so much about this game i felt rushed playing like i had to hurry like if i were just a bit faster i could get to zelda but of course it doesn't work like that because it's a game with a predetermined story rip anyways yes op i 1000% agree loz ss loz ss zelink

i just watched gaming wins talk about everything good about oot yesterday and it made me so happy he reminded me why i love my favorite game i love optimism it's so much fun!

The only time my dad thought my game was cool was when he saw me fishing. I even got him to try it!

i tried fishing for a bit in my most recent playthrough didn't catch anything too impressive tho loz oot loz oot
